I have always had an idea of directing myself through some kind of inner compass - in my thoughts, during challenges, milestones in life, opportunities, changes…  Having had the opportunity to work with Mary T twice the past three years (on two different in-house Leadership development programmes), has given me an overwhelming enhancement of this inner compass.

Through these sessions with Mary T, in these groups, I realize I have now also been given a map to the surroundings in which I navigate. I engaged in an Executive Coaching programme with Mary T when I moved into a more senior role within our business. There were a number of areas I wanted to work through in terms of my role as a leader, how I managed relationships and stakeholders and as I had just returned from maternity leave – I wanted to figure out how to manage it all.

I cannot articulate enough how impactful my sessions with Mary T were.  Not only is she warm, open and incredibly engaging but she has a way of challenging you and your thinking to ensure your plans are comprehensive, robust and considered.

She has a way of guiding your own thinking to a place of clarity which leaves you feeling energized and powerful.  Not only did I look forward to my time with Mary T but each and every time, I came away with a new and more insightful perspective.

I started working with Mary T as my executive coach when I had reached a point in my life where I felt tired, significantly overwhelmed and fearful. Coping as a single parent and working fulltime as a Project Manager, I felt I was always on a treadmill rushing through life. I struggled to find meaning and purpose in a career that no longer resonated with my sense of self - which was already on the floor from years of neglect! 2020 – What a year.  It’s been a rollercoaster, but Mary T held my hand as I navigated the challenges.  Having worked with Mary T previously, she was my natural choice for support as I dealt with the ending of my 20-year tenure with a multinational, to setting up my own company, while giving myself some permission to spend time with my family.

I first worked with Mary T back in 2009 when I engaged in a number of her ‘Communicate with Impact’ courses that she delivered in Novartis with various teams over many years. I wanted to learn how to communicate in a purpose-driven way to overcome any barriers to my success in Novartis. As I had left school at 15 years old, had no leaving cert or third level education, I often felt overwhelmed, stressed, trapped and without any obvious solutions.

Mary T’s approach was interactive, practical and fun and she was so approachable to the point that I found myself stepping out of my comfort zone and participating far more than usual. She really made me feel at ease and safe to share and learn. Not many people would have the natural flair to get me to interact so much, but she is blessed with an abundance of this skill.

A few years later I was blessed to get to work with Mary T again as my exec coach.  With her support and encouragement and her ability to instil a strong belief in myself, I successfully completed a higher diploma in Workforce development and training at UCC. That would have been un-heard of for me.
